Grace Young Inducted to SLIAC Hall of Fame
BELLEVILLE, IL -- Grace Young from Blackburn College Softball has been selected to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hall of Fame.
BELLEVILLE, IL -- Grace Young from Blackburn College Softball has been selected to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hall of Fame.
The 2012 graduate was a standout for the softball team and was inducted into the Blackburn Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024. Young is the only softball player to earn back to back SLIAC Player of the Year honors, which she did in 2010 and 2011. Her 2010 season saw her named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Second Team All Region which she followed by earning NFCA First Team All-Region honors in 2011.
In 2010, Young finished the season ranked nationally in batting average (.471) slugging percentage (.855) and on base percentage (.567) while in 2011, she was ranked nationally in batting average (.402), homeruns (14) and runs scored per game (1.28).
Her efforts helped guide the team to 39 wins in her two seasons at BC, including a SLIAC Conference Tournament appearance in 2011. Young finished her Blackburn career with .429 average, 75 hits, 41 runs batted in and 19 home runs.
Young will be join four others who will be inducted into the SLIAC Hall of Fame on May 21. The SLIAC Hall of Fame is virtual, located on the SLIAC web site (www.sliac.org).
